Cardiff set cricketing history by becoming the 1st new ground to host an Ashes test since 1902 and the 100th world test venue. Despite four Australians making centuries, England kept the crowd on the edge of their seats as they held out for the draw in the final minutes of the final day.Two different panoramic pictures are available from the 1st Cardiff test: a 180° panorama showing the entire ground celebrating as James Anderson takes England into the lead, ensuring that Australia have to bat again and effectively making the match safe; and a 120° panorama taken from side on at ground level showing Anderson, partnered by Monty Panesar, defending to deny Australia in the last over. Both pictures were taken in perfect late afternoon light and the result was to pave the way to Ashes victory.

The 2nd Test match at Lord's proved an epic struggle with England turning the tables on Australia after their near defeat at Cardiff. Andrew Flintoff, playing in his last Lord's test, took 5 wickets for 92 runs to see England home. The panorama was taken as Graeme Swann bowls out Australia's last man Mitchell Johnson. It shows the crowd and all England's players celebrating the first victory over the Aussies at the home of cricket for 75 years. It is available either as a 180° panorama, which displays almost the entire ground from the corner of the Edrich Stand to the corner of the Compton Stand; or as a 120° panorama which portrays the celebrations from the Allen to the Warner Stand.

Australia turned up at The Oval needing only a draw to retain the Ashes after trouncing England in the fourth test at Headingley. England fought back, against the odds to secure a remarkable victory. The panorama of the 5th test at The Oval, was taken as England win the game and regain the Ashes. It shows the entire team rushing to celebrate with Graeme Swann, who sinks to his knees in jubilation, after taking the last Australian wicket. It is available either as a 180° panorama, displaying almost the whole ground from the west to the east corners of the Vauxhall Stand; or as a 120° panorama , depicting the ground roughly from the scoreboard to big screen, in the late summer early evening light.

Play started at Kandy with Murali needing just one wicket to break Shane Warne's record. The biggest surprise was that it took him 94 minutes. To take this picture I needed an assistant to press the shutter button to capture the central frame of this digital panorama, as I was using another camera to take telephoto pictures for the Evening Standard. Fortunately that man was Sir Ian Botham, who captured the crucial moment perfectly. Featured here is a panoramic view of the beautifully picturesque ground at Kandy, with the rolling hills of Sri Lanka the backdrop, as Muttiah Muralitharan leaps in the air to celebrate becoming the leading wicket taker in the history of test cricket, with 709 victims.
